Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX DG Macro

Large aperture standard zoom lens provides superior performance both for Digital SLR Cameras and 35mm Film SLR Cameras

To achieve an F2.8 aperture at all focal lengths, it employs three aspherical Lens to provide optimum aberration compensation. Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements are provided for color aberration compensation, to assure high image quality.

Optimised for digital SLR cameras
It incorporates a "Super Multi Layer Coating" to reduce the influence of harmful light caused by reflections from the digital image sensor.

Excellent correction of aberrations
Two SLD elements, one Glass Mold Aspherical plus two Hybrid Aspherical lenses provide excellent correction of various aberrations and a high level of optical performance.

Minimum focusing distance of 40cm
The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 40cm at all focal lengths and is capable of macro photography with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.8.

DF (Dual Focus) System
This lens incorporates a Dual Focus (DF) system that is designed to make the lens easy to hold during autofocusing, and yet provides a large focus ring for easy manual focusing.

Petal Type Hood
Since the front of the lens does not rotate, a Petal-type hood and circular polarizing filters can be easily used.

Ephotozine - July 2005
'With lenses that were, or are designed for 35mm film cameras, using them on cropped dSLR cameras has often shown excellent edge performance and this is again the case with this lens.’
‘With two hybrid aspherical elements, one glass mould aspherical and two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements in the construction, chromatic aberrations and distortions have been well controlled and I found no concerns...’

Photography Monthly - October 2006
'As sometimes happens when using lenses designed for 35mm cameras on cropped DSLRs, they turn in an excellent edge performance. That’s the case here, especially at 70mm. The quality construction - two hybrid aspherical elements and two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements - minimizes chromatic aberrations and distortions…’

Digital Photographer - Issue 55
‘Contrast has been improved with the DG coating that has now been adopted by all of Sigma’s lenses, and it also keeps down incidences of light bouncing off the sensor surface and back inside the lens. Being an inherent element in perceived sharpness, this contrast, along with good resolution, means the images produced by the lens look nice and clean.’ ‘If you are still mixing digital with film, or full-frame with cropped, this is a very good buy.’

Digital Camera Buyer - Issue 60
‘This is a large lens that’s well built and feels like it will go the distance. The zoom ring is surprisingly small for the mechanism it has to move, but it works well. On 24x36mm format cameras, it’s good value and on cropped sensors it makes a great short telephoto zoom.’
