The big news for Sony a7 Gen II cameras was the announcement of Uncompressed 14-Bit RAW image capture when we first saw the a7S II at NAB. Sure enough, on the 15th October Sony confirmed that it was release a firmware update for the a7R II on 19th October (we updated all our cameras)....

Trying out the new Zeiss Otus 1.4/28

27 October 2015

If you read the blog, you'll already have seen all the official blurb about the new Zeiss Otus 1.4/28. Due for release next spring, it is the third in the Otus line up from Zeiss, following on from the very successful 1.4/55 and 1.4/85. Leica announce the new SL range

Leica announce the new SL range

20 October 2015

Due to go on sale in November, the SL (Typ 601) is an interesting one. As a mirrorless camera, surely it's there to compete against the likes of the Sony a7R II? I'm not sure. I'll be honest, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the Sony RX1. It's kind of been lost in all the media buzz that has surrounded the a7 range which is a shame as from an IQ point of view, there's been little to touch it. Sure the AF was diabolical and you couldn't call it cheap but the images it shot were amazing.....

Zeiss announce the Otus 1.4/28

14 October 2015

The Zeiss Otus range needs no introduction, introduced back in 2013 with the Otus 1.4/55. Very simply, if you're after the best bit of glass you can bolt onto your Canon, Nikon or Sony then that's it. Whilst other lenses are designed and built down to a budget, the Otus lenses are not. ...
