We always love to see our customers' work and hear how their projects are going. We were contacted recently by our customer Paul Willis, (above centre), award winning writer, director and producer at indie film company DigitalorDead, they hired a Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS and a Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS back in 2016 and contacted us to let us know what a success their film had been! The film was picked up for distribution by a company in the US, it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and went on to win a Los Angeles Film Award!
Here is what Paul had to say, along with stills from the film:
Indie filmmaking is about making the most of your resources, and we really appreciate the help that Hireacamera provided that allowed us to rent high quality equipment, affordably and easily.
As an indie filmmaker, when things start to go wrong they can cause huge problems. Films can end up going over budget and even end up being forced into to stopping production. Our experience with Hireacamera was great though. We got the equipment we needed, safely shipped to us on time, and it allowed us to deliver our film at the level of quality that we needed.
We hired some equipment for two days’ worth of filming. They were two very important days for us and we had eight different actors prepared for the shoot. Any delays in the equipment would have caused major headaches. As it went however, we had no issues at all. The equipment arrived on time, with no problems at all, as well as being safely packaged with clear instructions. The filming on those two days went smoothly and we finished our film on time and to the standard we needed.
As indie filmmakers you often don’t have the budgets of big Hollywood films so you can’t afford all of the equipment, but being able to hire certain items for certain days really helped us out. For example, we used a macro lens for two days, that gave the film a stylish look for the shots we were able to pick up with it.
We were able to make our film to the standard it needed and it went on to receive worldwide distribution, a Los Angeles Film Award and a premier at The Toronto International Film Festival. We are raising funding for out next two films Half The World Away and Hotel Maya now.
We would like to thank paul for his brilliant case study and wish DigitalorDead every success with their upcoming projects!
