Our Creations: New York Street Photography with the Canon EOS R6

This week, we are putting the spotlight on our very own Amy, who has had a love of New York for many years. Her First trip to the Big Apple was back in 2008, and with her she took the cropped sensor Nikon D200 with the lovely AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED. This time she opted for the full-frame Canon EOS R6 with the Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM, offering roughly the equivalent focal range as the cropped 17-55mm. Let’s find out how she got on!

I was due to go to New York in 2020 but then 2020, and 2021 for that matter, happened and we eventually got there in October 2022!  The many months of lockdowns did at least give me plenty of time to decide on what kit to take with me!

I didn’t want to break my back lugging a huge camera bag filled with multiple lenses, flash guns etc.  I decided on the Canon EOS R6 with the RF 24-70mm lens and I wasn’t disappointed!  It coped brilliantly with everything that I asked of it, particularly in low level light situations such as at the New York Public Library and The Met.

I was also very grateful for the excellent weather sealing as a large portion of the trip was graced by the tail end of Hurricane Ian!  Now I guess I just need to start planning my next trip!

The Canon EOS R6 is available for hire HERE, and the RF 24-70mm can be found, HERE.
