CUSTOMER CASE STUDY: On safari in Tanzania with the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm f/4-5.6 OIS
22 March 2018
We were recently contacted by our customer James Drummond, to share some of his amazing images with us having just returned from Tanzania. He and his wife Selena chose to hire the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 100-300mm to use with their G5, giving them an equivalent focal length of 200-600mm – quite handy when getting close to African wildlife!
Read on for James and Selena's story…
So Selena (my wife) and I went on a safari holiday with my parents to Tanzania in February of this year. We spent 8 days moving between Moshi, at the base of Kilimanjaro, then Arusha, Ngorogoro, Lake Manyara, Ndutu and finally back to Arusha.
We are both super amateur photographers and we have the most basic of kit - a Lumix G5 four thirds camera to be precise, (released in 2012) with the standard lens. We read on various blogs that we should take a 300mm lens with us as you rarely get super close to the animals on safari. We looked online to buy a suitable lens and they were all circa £600. This sounded like a lot for us amateurs as we would rarely use such a telephoto lens.
Then we stumbled across Hireacamera online who had the exact lens we wanted which we could hire for a fraction of the price. The service, the delivery, the attention to detail, the quality of the case/cover/etc. were all first class - as I think/hope, were our final snaps.
I think we can all agree that James and Selena's images really are exceptional. Next stop, National Geographic!
A big thank you to them both for sharing these beautiful images, and of course for their kind words.
