Fujifilm XF lens line-up expands with a new XF80mm macro

Fujifilm has announced that it will release the new FUJINON XF80mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro Lens, in November 2017. The introduction of this lens will add to the X Series line-up of interchangeable lenses. This lens features a focal length equivalent to 122mm (on a 35mm format), a maximum aperture of F2.8, and 1.0x magnification factor, a first in the X Series interchangeable lens range.
By achieving high resolving power at the focus point and beautiful bokeh, this lens is optimal for shooting flowers and nature photos. With an optical construction of 16 elements in 12 groups, including one aspherical lens, one Super ED lens, and three ED lenses, along with a Floating Focus System, this lens is capable of achieving high-quality macro shooting from close-up too far away. The Floating Focus System divides the focus lens group into “Front Focus Group” and “Rear Focus Group” and drives them depending on the shooting distance with high accuracy. This system leads to high resolution when shooting macro, where the aberrations become easily noticeable.
A newly developed “Ball Slide System” controls lens movement by arranging ceramic balls along the guide rail. This system makes it possible to achieve high image quality from the center to the edge by suppressing any inclination of the two focus lens groups and keep its clearance with high accuracy. The focus lens groups move within the lens barrel meaning that the length of the lens does not change. Therefore there is no need to worry about accidentally touching the object you are shooting
This lens supports hand-held shooting thanks to Optical Image Stabilizer system suppressing shift shake, image shaking is caused by vertical and horizontal movement and becomes more obvious the higher the magnification ratio. The lens also provides a fast and silent Auto Focus system by adopting linear motors.
Naturally it is also weather and dust resistant and can operate in temperatures as low as -10°C, so it is suitable for use in a wide range of outdoor shooting conditions. A fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to repel water and dirt, further improving the toughness of the lens.
The XF80mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro will be available in November 2017 and we will be expecting to stock it from launch.
Fujifilm has today also unveiled the latest development roadmap for the X Mount Lenses. With this roadmap, details of a Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens and a Telephoto Prime Lens are unveiled.
XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR - an ultra-wide angle zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 12-24mm (on a 35mm format) and maximum F2.8 aperture. It is a lens most suited to shooting dynamic landscapes, night views and architecture. With the XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR and XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR, Fujifilm’s XF lenses will cover F2.8 across the entire zoom range of Wide/Standard/Telephoto shooting areas.
XF200mmF2 R LM OIS WR - a telephoto prime lens with a focal length equivalent to 305mm (on a 35mm format) and maximum bright F2.0 aperture. It is a lens most suited to shooting sports, nature, or wild-birds. Both the existing FUJINON Teleconverter XF1.4X TC WR and XF2.0X TC WR are compatible, so it can be used as an ultra-telephoto lens.
