It's always a thrill when Hireacamera equipment is used at unique events, so we were delighted when Aslan Steel approached us to provide kit for some workshops he was running at Kendal Mountain Festival 2025.
Chronicles: An Adventure Filmmaking Workshop was a 2 day programme hosted by Aslan, in association with Kendal Mountain Festival, RED cameras, and Osprey. It's goal was to introduce enthusiasts and budding shooters to outdoor filming techniques and filmmaking in extreme conditions - including hanging from ropes! Designed to boost fundamental skills and showcase a unique perspective on extreme filming, the opportunity to combine camera operation with technical ropework was not to be missed.

The first day of the event at Kendal Climbing Wall featured special guest Neil Gresham, focusing entirely on the essential foundations of outdoor filmmaking. Attendees were given a deep dive into effective storytelling in wild environments, learned practical techniques, and were provided a valuable opportunity to get hands-on with RED equipment to refine their creative and technical skills.

The second day took the attendees' filmmaking skills vertical. Participants learned the fundamentals of working at height, which included rope management, essential safety skills, and jugging techniques, while exploring how to capture compelling footage from unique perspectives. This session offered the rare opportunity to combine technical ropework with specialized camera operation under expert guidance.

All in all, Aslan delivered a fantastic workshop that helped make the Kendal Mountain Festival 2025 a resounding success. A credit to Osprey for putting the event together, to RED cameras for supplying some choice cinema offerings, and of course to Aslan for collaborating with Hireacamera.
