Pansonic has today announced two brand new cameras and a lens to add to it's S product range.

In an exciting series of press releases, Panasonic has announced two new cameras and a lens. The S1II, S1IIE and S24-60mm F2.8 further fleshes out the Panasonic Lumix range..

Lumix S1II

The camera’s 24-megapixel partially stacked sensor is a marvel of modern technology, offering photographers and videographers an exceptional level of detail and clarity. This sensor design facilitates faster readout speeds, significantly reducing rolling shutter effects, which is particularly beneficial for capturing fast-moving subjects. With over 15 stops of dynamic range, this camera excels in high-contrast environments, enabling users to capture images with remarkable detail in both shadows and highlights. Such dynamic range is crucial for professional photographers seeking to maintain the integrity of their shots in challenging lighting conditions.

For videographers, this camera is a powerhouse, offering full-frame 4K video recording at an impressive 120 frames per second. This feature allows for silky-smooth slow-motion footage, adding a dramatic flair to any project. Additionally, the capability to shoot 6K video at 60 frames per second and in open gate format provides filmmakers with the flexibility to capture ultra-high-definition footage while maintaining a wide aspect ratio. For still photographers, the 70fps burst mode ensures that no moment is missed, making it ideal for action-packed scenes or wildlife photography. Together, these features make the camera an exceptional choice for professionals seeking a versatile tool that performs brilliantly across both photography and videography disciplines.

Lumix S1 IIE

The Panasonic Lumix S1IIE, while similar to the S1II, presents some notable differences that may influence a user's choice depending on their specific needs. For video enthusiasts, the S1IIE's limitation to 4K at 60p as opposed to the S1II's capability of 120 frames per second could be a significant drawback, particularly for those who prioritize high-frame-rate video for smooth slow-motion effects. Additionally, the 6K recording option in the S1IIE is restricted to a 2.4:1 aspect ratio, in contrast to the S1II's more versatile 5.9K 16x9 and 5.8K 17x9 FULL modes, offering broader creative framing options.

For photographers, both models share the same mechanical shutter speed of 10fps, but the S1IIE maintains a respectable 30fps with its electronic shutter. Ultimately, while these distinctions might not be critical for all users, the choice between the S1IIE and S1II will largely depend on individual priorities, whether they lean more towards video versatility or specific shutter capabilities.

Lumix S 24-60mm F2.8 Lens

The Lumix S 24-60mm F2.8 lens is a marvel of optical engineering, combining versatility with exceptional image quality. Its sophisticated design incorporates 14 elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical lenses, a UED lens, and two ED lenses, all working harmoniously to minimize distortion and chromatic aberrations. This results in sharp, vibrant images across a versatile focal range of 24mm to 60mm, perfect for capturing both expansive landscapes and detailed telephoto shots.

The 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm allows for a constant maximum aperture of F2.8, ensuring beautifully blurred backgrounds and excellent low-light performance. Its close focusing capabilities, with distances of 0.19 meters at wide angles and 0.33 meters at the telephoto end, along with a maximum magnification of 0.30x, make it ideal for close-up photography. The lens is designed to endure harsh environments, being dust and splash resistant, and operates reliably in temperatures from -10°C to 40°C. With a compact design supporting 77mm filters, it measures 84mm in diameter, 99.9mm in length, and weighs just 544 grams, making it an excellent choice for photographers on the go.
