Just before the beginning of IBC 2023 in Amsterdam, Canon went live with an announcement about their new range of RF mount cinema prime lenses.  Up until now, video shooters were adapting lenses for RF cameras, with EF mount lenses being attached via Canon's excellent EOS EF EOS-R adapter.

Canon was quick to highlight the tremendous benefits of using native glass on their cameras, saying: "The native RF mount offers high speed communication between the lens and camera body, with the enhanced design allowing for a more stable and comfortable experience when operating."

Users of Canon's cinema range of cameras, the Canon EOS C70 and the Canon EOS R5 C will be delighted to hear these lenses are inbound, as will shooters who use RED cameras, where an RF mount is a great option following this announcement.
