Introducing the world’s first F1.8 ultra-wide-angle lens, the Sigma 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art.
Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM (SEL14F18GM) hire.
The Sony FE 20mm F1.8 G is a compact, high-resolution 20mm F1.8 prime for full-frame cameras.
Fast wide-angle primes can be big and bulky, however that can’t be said about the FE 24mm F1.4 GM, which is considerably smaller and lighter than SLR equivalents. Sony has got the design and handling of lens just right. It feels perfectly matched with Sony a7-series full-frame cameras and provides a tactile aperture ring with a de-click switch that allows videographers to take silent aperture control. What impresses us most though is just how sharp it is. The level of sharpness at the edge of the frame at wide apertures left us gobsmacked. This fast prime sure packs a punch for its size and Sony users will love it.
Users of Sony’s full-frame a7-series are fairly limited when it comes to choosing a fast 35mm prime. This example from Sigma is a first-class example that can be used for a wide variety of genres and its stunning optical quality won’t leave those who shoot weddings, portraits or documentary images disappointed. It’s incredibly sharp in the centre between f/2 and f/11. Full-time manual focus override is great to have for fine-tuning focus and is aided by a delightfully smooth manual focus ring. Regrettably it’s not weather sealed, but this is a minor criticism on what is otherwise a sublime prime that produces striking results with whatever Sony E-mount camera it’s coupled to.
Sony’s most advanced technology is packed into the FE 35mm F1.4 GM, delivering eye-opening G Master resolution and bokeh with extraordinary AF speed and precision.
Performance meets portability with the 65mm F2 DG DN Contemporary lens for mirrorless systems.
This is the crème-de-la-crème of portrait lenses for Sony users who shoot stills and video. Its sharpness across the frame, stunning bokeh at wide apertures and pro-grade build quality place it above Sony’s cheaper FE 85mm F1.8 lens. Sony has thought of everything. It has a de-clickable manual aperture ring that allows silent aperture control from the lens when shooting video and a focus lock button on the barrel that can be customised to different functions. It’s relatively compact for an f/1.4 prime and being a G-Master lens it has extensive weather seals throughout. Fast portrait lenses are loved by many and they don’t come much better than the FE 85mm F1.4 GM.
