The Exciting World Of Gimbals

If you're looking to take your footage to the next level and you're shooting with a mirrorless/smallish camera, an electronic gimbal is a fantastic place to start. Offering incredible movement options that previously would only have been possible with a professional dolly rig or a giant crane, gimbals use electonic motors to hold your camera in place across each axis, no matter where you move the gimbal body. From the perspective of a wedding shoot, think following the bride down the aisle, sweeping shots of the venue, or panning round the happy couple during their first dance. We have a great selection of options from DJI, along with a little more info and help below, just to ease you into the world of gimbals!

Once you've attached your camera to the gimbal, the next step is to balance it on each axis. DJI provides some handy tips for this, including the below video specifically for the DJI Ronin S, just to give you a head start.

Cameras come in a vast selection of shapes, sizes and weights, and not all cameras work with all gimbals. Likewise, putting a giant lens on the front of a compatible camera isn't going to end well when it comes to achieving good balance! DJI has a full compatibility list HERE, but don't worry if you're not 100% sure, we can check for you once your order is in place.
